Our Kids + Youth Church happens every Sunday at 11.30am
Many things have changed this year and we would love to share with you a few of the ways we’re making changes to Kids + Youth Church at Willowfield as we come back into a new season. Our theme for this year is ABOVE + BEYOND.
Lil’ Movers is from Nursery – P2 and they are feisty, funny, wonderful little legends who keep us on our toes with their thoughtful questions, their bold prayers, and their longing to know more of God’s Kingdom.
Kids Church is for the P3–P6s – our passionate, thoughtful, and courageous children who come faithfully – ready to rock and journey deeper through bible together.
Youth Church is for the P7s– Year 11s – our oldest group filled with wisdom, discernment, audacity of courage and powerful personal ownership of their faith.
(Following guidelines, our creche will not be coming back at this time.)
For the first time, all three groups will meet in the same building (Willowfield Church Halls) and will have their own space for age appropriate teaching, activities, discussion time and fun.
How does it work?
Online Sign Up
¨ We will send a link out by email each Wednesday (and a reminder on our social media platforms on a Saturday) to sign up on our event page. This will send all of your details directly to our system for track + trace purposes which means they can swan in and you can shoot straight on to the main building for your service.
¨ The main difference at this point is that all kids + youth come directly to the Halls at the start of the service. They don’t go into the main church building unless they really would prefer to stay with you throughout the service.
¨ Nursery + Kids Church go to the MAIN door at the front of the building (please queue 2m apart) – doors open 15 mins before each service. They will have a little temperature check at the door.
¨ Youth Church enter through the SIDE GATE (into the park) and will be temperature checked on arrival too.
What happens next?
¨ Hand sanitizer will be liberally applied to each lovely paw that comes our way.
¨ The Lil’ Movers, Kids Church + Youth Church will be directed into three separate spaces for their sessions. We may combine Lil’ Movers + Kids Church depending on numbers but will always make sure the teaching is age appropriate.
¨ Kids will be encouraged to sit apart during the sessions which we will do using chairs + tables, pillows and mats. Leaders will also be 2m apart with designated standing areas. Masks are not mandatory for the under 13s per government guidelines.
¨ Our COVID–19 trained team will lead the sessions using teaching materials + resources. We’re trying to reduce crafts and games that exert too much energy as much as possible at the start but it could feature as we go along.
¨ Kids are encouraged to bring any notebooks/pens with them if they wish to take notes during the sermons. Water/snacks can also be sent from home as we are no longer allowed to prepare them.
¨ There will be one toilet available which will be disinfected after each use and each session.
¨ Once the main church service has finished, one parent swiftly makes their way to collect their child/children/young person from the Halls. Or you can park alongside the Halls and stand at your car so we can spot you.
o Lil’ Movers will leave from the GLASS SPACE DOOR
o Kids Church will leave from the FRONT DOOR
o Youth Church will leave from the SIDE DOOR
¨ Kids from P4 up may walk home with parental permission.
¨ Kids will be sanitised again as they leave.
What we’re doing…
¨ We will have a deep clean of every hard surface before the kids + young people arrive on a Sunday morning.
¨ We have a designated Leader in Charge each week who has the fun job of running through a health + safety checklist for each session to ensure that all of our policies, procedures and assessments are being followed safely.
¨ All of our volunteers have received extensive training in all of our new procedures, so they feel confident and safe to teach without worrying about the changes.
¨ We will disinfect everything again as the kids + young people leave – every chair, every felt–tip, every table, every handle, everything!
We’re planning to keep the Zoom Kids Church running at 10am for the first month or so as we get used to meeting in person again – it’s not going away so there is no pressure to immediately jump to in person services with kids who are feeling anxious.
Basically – if we were not 100% sure we’ve done everything we possibly can to run this safely, we would not be coming back to in person services until we could say we were. We are not reckless with your children and their safety is our top priority.
