Alzheimer’s Society – Training for Informal Caregivers
Beginning on Tuesday 1 August at 6.30pm and running for 4 Weeks the Alzheimer’s Society will be delivering a Training Course to equip you to support those with Dementia.
The ‘Training for Informal Caregivers’ course will explore 6 modules over the 4 week period;
Module 1 – What is Dementia?: a chance to meet the other participants and share experiences. Key aspects of Dementia and its impacts.
Module 2 – Legal and Financial Issues: explores legal and financial issues to help you understand the importance of planning for the future.
Module 3 – Learning to Manage: insight into the impact of dementia and how to cope.
Module 4 – Communication – behaviour, ability and communication – understanding and awareness of the issues.
Module 5 – Personal Care and Wellbeing: Considering the support needs of the person with dementia and how these needs might be met
Module 6 – Available Services: What help is available locally and how to access it.
The programme is designed to improve knowledge, skills and understanding of those supporting or caring for someone with dementia. It allows for peer support and a shared learning experience in a safe accessible environment.
