Initially Christian Endeavour was started for young people to promote an earnest Christian life amongst its members. Our present Comrades group consists of older 'young' people who meet on the 2nd Monday of the month for prayer and Bible study. We have supported various missionary societies, and over the years have sent several thousands of pounds to help spread the gospel throughout the world. Recently we have visited a residential home to sing and bring a message to the people there.
Christian Endeavour is a Christ-centred , Church-based organisation which caters for all age groups within the church from Juniors through, Young Adults to Seniors but its main emphasis is on youth. Junior CE offers an action-packed program for children up to the age of thirteen. YPCE caters for young people aged thirteen to twenty-one and the Young Adults' group is for those up to the age of thirty-five. Seniors and Personal Members have a very important role as they continue their affiliation to Christian Endeavour through supporting it prayerfully and financially.
Christian Endeavour is the origina l and still the most effective leadership training organisation for young Christians. Its motto is "For Christ and the Church" and this is translated into its aims which are to lead children and young people to the Lord Jesus Christ as Saviour and then to train them to serve Him as Lord and Master. Through this the members commit themselves to a programme in the local church. By participating in what has been termed a "do-it yourself" style weekly meeting and monthly Act of Consecration, they are trained for effective service for Christ and the Church. The young people plan their own meetings and activities, with the minimum of adult assistance.
Christian Endeavour is an International and Interdenominational organisation so members are given the opportunity to meet with Endeavourers from other areas and from different denominations through attendance at Rallies and other events organised not only at Local Union and Irish Union level but at World CE Union level also. |
